We decided to have Rory's birthday party at the church since our apartment is too small to accomodate everyone who came to celebrate with us, and it was just to cold to do it at the park like we did for Andrew's 1st birthday. We reserved the gym and I had some great ideas for decorating.
We started the party just mingling with people until everyone had arrived. 
Todd and I made a "How Well Do You Know Rory" quiz that all of the adults filled out. We had a bunch of fun questions to see how much people know about our little girl and what she has done during the past year. Julianne ended up winning the prize on a tie breaker question between her, Todd's parents, and my mom. While the adults were doing that, the kids had fun decorating Valentines cookies.
After that, we had the kids do the pinata. 
We got one of those pull-string pinatas, and the kids all took turns going up and pulling out one of the strings.
I guess Andrew thought that we should be done because he grabbed two strings on his second time around. That's my Booger!
The only problem was that by the time all of the strings had been pulled, the pinata still hadn't opened up. So Todd kicked it, and kicked it again, and finally punched all of the goodies out of it.
And that is what was left of the pinata when Todd got done with it.
The kids had a blast getting what they could, and Todd and I helped our kids to make sure they got things they would like. Then we ate dinner. Todd and I didn't want to have to worry about cooking a ton of food, so we got sandwich and salad platters, chips, drinks, etc. We wanted to make sure we had enough food for everyone. (It turns out that was not an issue. After the party was over we ended up giving a ton of food to some of our friends.) When everyone had their fill, it was time for Rory to open presents.
Let just say that everyone spoiled her quite well on her 1st birthday. She got toys, clothes, horses & ponies, dolls, 
books,
luggage,
and much more.
She was a bit frustrated with Todd because he kept handing her more presents to open, and she just wanted to play with the ones she had already opened.
When she was finally done opening presents we got ready to have cake and ice cream. 
Rory had her own little cake that she could devour. 
But she wasn't very interested in touching the cake, let alone devouring it. 
After a few minutes she tried to push it off of her high chair. She did have fun sharing all the frosting on her hands with her new baby that Andrew gave her. 
It was then time to get the birthday girl home and into the bath and we got things cleaned up with a lot of help from several others.
