Our 24th of July

For any of you non-Utahns yesterday was the 24th of July aka Pioneer Day. For me it was a day off work and school. My parents decided to spend the day in the canyon. They went to the Ledgemere picnic ground up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Nicole, Andrew, and I went up there in the afternoon to meet them and have dinner.

When we first got up there, most of my family was off hiking. Nicole and I took AJ in the stroller to try and find them. After "four-wheeling" it a bit with the stroller, we couldn't go much further with the stroller. So I picked up AJ, folded up the stroller, and started hiking with AJ on one arm, the stroller in my other hand, and Nicole holding onto my shoulder for balance. Oh and we were wearing flip-flops because we forgot to bring tennis shoes. It was fun!

Andrew had a fun on his first trip to the canyon. He played in the dirt with his pail and shovel and his dump truck.

He played in the river, but the water was very cold.

And he played in the rocks. He loves being outside!

I also had some fun playing in or on the rocks.

My neices showed us where this cave was. It wasn't huge, but it was kinda fun to go into.

Andrew also enjoyed his first canyon marshmallow, unfortunately it wasn't roasted. We didn't know if we were ready for all that stickiness.

Andrew is getting really good at saying goodbye when he leaves someone or somewhere. Say "bye bye" to the canyon.

All in all it was a pretty fun day. The most amazing thing was how good Andrew was. We normally have him in bed between 6:30 and 7:00, but we didn't even leave the canyon until about 7:30 or so. He was so tired, but with Nicole's help he stayed awake until we got home. We did his bedtime routine with him, and got him in bed about 8:40. And my wonderful little man slept until 7:00 this morning. What a good kid!
HAPPY PIONEER DAY!
