A Surprise Birthday Trip to Arizona

For the last couple of years we have been with Nicole's mom for her birthday so we decided we were going to be with her again this year. We knew it would be a quick trip and we decided we were going for sure at the last minute so we didn't tell her we were coming. Her birthday was yesterday March 29th, a Monday, and because of school we would have to come back home on her actual birthday but we were able to spend a three day weekend with her.

On Thursday we got the van loaded up, Nicole dropped me off at school, and she took the kids out to eat at McDonald's so they could eat and play. Then at 2pm she picked me up and we hit the road. It was a great drive down with only one complication: Andrew got car sick and emptied his stomach all over himself and his car seat. We were lucky though; we were in a town so we could wash him and his car seat off. We ended up in Mesa at 12:30am AZ time. The kids were awake so we decided to go inside. We knew that Mom and Trish would probably be asleep and since they had no idea we were coming we might scare them, but it was worth it. We walked in, Precious started barking, Mom said Hello and we said surprise. She was so happy to see us, but she did admit she was scared at first.

We spent the weekend just hanging out doing nothing to out of the ordinary. We enjoyed watching Rory and Andrew play with Precious. They would chase her around everywhere. They also enjoyed coloring outside with chalk and riding Andrew's tractor down the driveway. On Sunday we took a walk to look at some horses down the road from Mom's. Rory was so excited and not afraid at all. She loves horses. Andrew enjoyed them too. We enjoyed our quick weekend in AZ, celebrating Mom's birthday and all the sunshine. Nothing out of the ordinary happened on the way home. It was a great trip! (But we didn't take any pictures.)

I love that you just leave and I don't even notice... I am a bad bad sister! We seriously need to get together though!
