We are having a great vacation this summer. The Merrill Family Reunion was in San Diego this year. After some debate and figuring some stuff out Nicole and I decided that it would be a fun trip for our family. We drove down with my parents, Julianne, and Carolee's family. Driving to San Diego in our new minivan was great.

Andrew's favorite part of the new van is the DVD player.

Rory loved chillin on the van floor with Dada.

Andrew loved chillin in his car seat and holding Rory's hand.

Nicole and I each drove about half way. It was really nice having all of the extra room in the van. It made taking care of the kids a lot easier and the overall roadtrip much more pleasant.
My Mom, Dad, Carolee, and her kids shared a motel room. And we shared a motel room with Julie. We were a little nervous about how that would work out with the kids and napping and everything. To our delight the motel arrangements worked out very well and as you can see Andrew slept just fine.

We arrived late Sunday night in El Cajon. We got to the motel before the rest of our family due to the fact that Julie got lost and Dad was following her. When we were about 5 miles from the motel Julie called Nicole. She asked, "Where are you?" Nicole told her we were almost to the motel. Then Julie asked, "Where am I?" I thought it was hilarious that she was asking Nicole where she was. Thanks to a good map and Nicole, the rest of them found their way to the right freeway and arrived about 30-45 minutes after we had. We unloaded what we needed to and got to bed ASAP. We were headed to Sea World the next morning and we weren't sure how the kids were going to sleep in the new environment. It was a really long day, but we were glad to finally get to our destination with few problems.

Thank goodness Nicole knew where we were even when we didn't. A good map is only useful if you know how to use it so thank you for knowing that. It was a very long day and I still don't know where we went wrong.;)
