Summer Vacation to Utah: Day 2 (4th of July)

Happy Independence Day!  In the morning we went up to the canyon for breakfast and other mountain fun. The kids favorite thing was throwing rocks into the creek. We also went on a hike, went into a small cave, and just lounged about. I of course had fun myself doing some crazy stuff that Nicole didn't really approve of.

After the canyon, we took the kids back to my parents for a nap, so they would be ready for the long night ahead.  When Rory woke up I started work on her hair.  Nicole saw on Pinterest, this little girl who had a star braided into her hair.  She asked if I could do that with Rory.  So I gave it a shot.  It didn't turn out perfect, but not bad for a first attempt.
We went to the Sandy parade and fireworks for the rest of the evening. The kids of course enjoyed the candy that they got from the parade and they really liked some of the floats and people in the parade as well.

When the parade was winding down, we headed over to our spot on the lawn that we had saved to watch the entertainment and the fireworks.  We walked around and looked at the booths, made frequent trips to the porta-potties, ate yummy food, and just had fun.  When it got dark we gave the kids their glow in the dark flags we had bought for them.  And their uncle Michael shared some of his glow sticks.  They had a lot of fun.  We watched the fireworks and then hung around until traffic died down a bit.  We then headed home and got the kids and us to bed.  It was a good 4th of July celebration.
